Marcelo is a fungi specialist—particularly capable of identifying wild species in Brazil. The researcher is also the co-owner of Terroir Sul, a company that values the flavors and regional aromas of wild ingredients.
In Brazil, his research has enabled several studies on native mushrooms and those that were introduced into the country; as well as the recent discovery of a true truffle in Brazilian soil.
